Advanced news system development for Lietuvos Rytas TV news service
|
|
In October Lietuvos Rytas TV started to broadcast from its recently developed news system and, thanks to timely news and publicity programmes, almost doubled its programme ratings in the first weeks of broadcasting. Hannu Pro, which won the rights to develop this EUR 1 000 000 technical project for Lietuvos Rytas (5 Kanalas) news service, concluded all of the installations at the newly reconstructed building, located in the centre of Vilnius, to very tight deadlines. Now Lietuvos Rytas TV owns the most advanced news system in the Baltic States.
Lietuvos Rytas TV news system is based on: |
|
· |
Thomson GV Aurora SD/HD solution for browsing, editing and playout; this includes: 20 licences of Aurora Browse for journalists to perform material selection, and 10 licences of Aurora Edit LD for news editors to carry out story development and news editing. While these work with low resolution material, there are six additional licenses of Aurora Craft which provide high resolution craft editing for news programmes and promotions without transcoding from different formats. The delivered system also has Aurora Playout, and Aurora Ingest for ingestion of P2 content, Reuters video service files, tape and stream based content, as well as content received from regional news centres |
· |
Thomson GV K2 HD ready (optional K2 Media Client is required) server systems to provide online and nearline (via FTP) media storage and access in Aurora news production platform |
· |
AP ENPS NRCS news editors system (18 licences), which is used for news story and programme development, scripting, and media management. This is fully integrated with the Aurora news production platform, as well as the Autocue TV prompter systems |
|
Lietuvos Rytas TV also received additional equipment to complete the news studio: |
|
· |
6 Panasonic P2 technology SD/HD ENG camcorders to support electronic news gathering |
· |
a Thomson GV Kayak 2ME SD/HD video mixer |
· |
a fully redundant Concerto 64x64 SDI switcher and Jupiter controller |
· |
Thomson GV Gecko Flex Modulars equipment for signal processing and distribution |
· |
LDK-400 Digital Triax broadcast cameras with 16:9 and 4:3 format support, equipped with appropriate Cartoni camera supports |
· |
Autocue prompter systems, which are integrated with a ENPS NRCS journalist news system thanks to MOS protocol support |
· |
a Riedel studio intercom system to support communication in all television premises |
· |
Pixel Power character generators |
· |
an Avitech MultiViewer signal monitoring system to provide video, audio, and ENPS and Aurora DVI signal monitoring |
· |
Wohler equipment for audio monitoring and other functions |
The Lietuvos Rytas TV news system, as developed by Hannu Pro, also provides programme encoding into Flash and H263 formats using Carbon Coder to support streaming video on Lietuvos Rytas web site, as well as broadcasting into the Omnitel 3G network.
