Hannu Pro supports Latvian National Film Festival
Latvian National Film Festival Lielais Kristaps celebrates its 25-th anniversary this year. Festival is organized by Latvian Association of Cinematographers and is also supported by Hannu Pro who provided a professional high quality 40" video monitor, computer equipment and a special prize for one festival movie. A record number of 87 movies were submitted to the festival this year and 40 of them were selected to participate in nomination procedure at 23 nominations. An expert teams constituted by professional cinematographers organizations including Latvian Film Producers Association, Latvian Guild of Cinematographers, Latvian Film Artist Guild and FIPRESCI Latvija made initial movie selection. Next, during the festival, an international jury judged all nominated films to pick the winner for each of nominations, which received Lielais Kristaps - the most respectable award of Latvian cinematography.
Lielais Kristaps for the best movie was awarded to Golfa straume zem ledus kalna (director Jevgenij Paskevic), Dokumentalists (director Ivars Zviedris) received award for the best documentary and Gints Berzins also received award as best cameramen (Amaya, Golfa straume zem ledus kalna). A special Hannu Pro award was awarded to the authors of the best documentary up to 65 minutes - film Kā tev klājas, Rūdolf Ming.

Hannu Pro supports LNMM and LMA co-project Maize. Identitate?
It is 10th time when 4th grade students of The Faculty of History and Theory of Arts at Art Academy of Latvia are organizing an exhibition based on selected theme as part of study process. These exhibitions include works from archives of Latvian National Museum of art. Contemporary artists also are involved. This year the theme of the project is related to contemplation about bread and identity found in the artists' works from 20th and 21st centuries.

Identitate? (Bread. Identity?) will be open from January 26 till February 19 in Creative Workshop premises at LNMM exhibition hall Arsenals. Hannu Pro is among project supporters providing technical assistance.

International short film festival 2ANNAS 2011 has closed
2ANNAS 2011 - an international short film festival closed on May 28th with the awarding ceremony held at cinema K.Suns. Five international and one Baltic film screenings took place at the festival. Three-person international jury judged all submitted films: Matti Kiuru (Coordinator at Tampere Film Festival, Finland), Johan Knattrup Jensen (Film director and writer, film school Super 16, Denmark), and Janis Putnins (Film director, Latvia).

An international film festival 2ANNAS 2011 will take the place in Riga, May 23 - 28. Festival events are scheduled as follows:
· May 23 - 2ANNAs movie night - screening of Latvian Academy of Culture students works
· May 24 and 25 - Nordic Toolbox - symposium of Nordic short films (screening and seminars)
· May 25 - official festival opening evening
· May 26 and 27 - movie screenings (International movie programme, Baltic competition screening, non-competition movie screening)

Hannu Pro shares the technology to support Raimonds Pauls live show
Celebrating his 75 at the mid January Maestro Raimonds Pauls, Latvian prime composer, preformed live at Arena Riga. To capture this special evening spirit for those who were not able to attend this marvellous live show, Hannu Pro provided Gass Valley K2 Summit 8 channel video server system supporting HD recording to meet the highest quality standards. Live show was filmed utilising resources of Estonian state television's (ERR) IRIS HD OB Van, which is most advanced available in Baltic States. Eight 8 of 16 available state-of-the-art Grass Valley LDK 8000 Elite series cameras captured ongoing events through Grass Valley Kayah HD video mixer and signal was recorded on ChannelFlex enabled Grass Valley K2 Summit server - eight simultaneous 100Mbps 1080i AVC-Intra 10bit (4:2:2) video streams. Such high quality of recorded signal allowing further non-destructive synchronous multi-camera video editing while preserving image clarity and detail, what enables sharing complete spectrum of nuances of this very special event.

2Annas 2011 call for festival entries
2Annas 2011 begin their activities and call for festival entries. Submissions are accepted before March 31, 2011 (deadline) in following two competition programmes:
· International Competition is open to contributions by filmmakers of all age groups and nationalities, produced by individuals, international film schools, film studios, etc
· Baltic Competition presents the works by Baltic directors, showing the newest tendencies and the development of Baltic short film and video production with the aim to enhance the exchange of ideas and experience among the Baltic filmmakers
Prizes and Awards: the winner of International Competition 2011 will receive 2000 Euro and Golden Anna Statuette from festival's General sponsor Hannu Pro; the winner of Baltic Competition 2011 will receive 1000 Euro and Anna Statuette from festival's General sponsor Hannu Pro. 2Annas 2011 will take place in Riga, May 25-31.

Hannu Pro sponsors Riga Open - ITF tennis tournament
The thirteenth Riga Open 2010 ITF Junior Circuit and Tennis Europe Junior tour tennis tournament took place in Riga form June 21 to 26 and was also sponsored by Hannu Pro. Riga Open is prospective tennis tournament for young talents. It provides professional management, great facilities and many opportunities for growth. Several world-class tennis players including Dinara Safina, Alisa Kleybanova, Ernests Gulbis, Vera Dushevina, Jevgenija Linecka, Anastasija Sevastova started their careers at Riga Open. Riga Open 2010 gathered young talents from more than 25 countries. In the main tournament 324 players participated in 447 matches (116 and 331 in U18 group, and U12, U14 and U16 groups respectively). In total 962 sets and 7869 games were played and in four age groups 16 titles were awarded for individual players and pairs each. U12, U14 and U16 age group matches were organized as part of Tennis Europe Junior tour, but U18 matches were part of ITF Junior Circuit competition.

Hannu Pro supported international short film festival 2Annas 2009 has finished
International short film festival 2ANNAS 2010, which was supported by Hannu Pro finished on May 29, 2010 with the awarding ceremony followed by screenings of award-winning movies. Festival films were judged by competent jury: Dita Rietuma - cinema critic, Andrejs Apsitis - camera men, Davis Simanis - director, Martins Grauds - director and photographer, and Oskar Lehemaa - supervisor of Estonian students festival Sleepwalkers programmes.
The main festival prize - Golden Anna statuette and EUR 2000 from Hannu Pro was awarded to Polish film Echo directed by Magnus von Horn.
The winner of the Baltics film screening - Estoninan animation film The Great Grey Shrike directed by Chintis Lundger was awarded with 2Anna statuette and received the EUR 1000 prize from Hannu Pro.
2Annas awards and diplomas were given out to the best films from international film screening: Cactus (Anna Treiman - Denmark), Never Drive a Car When You’re Dead (Gregor Dashuber - Germany), Glebs Film (Christian Hornung - Germany), Anthem (Elad Keidan - Israel), It’s me Helmut (Nicolas Steiner - Germany) and Scratches (Gabriela Pichler - Sweden), as well as best films from Baltics film screening When Apples Roll (Reinis Kalnaellis - Latvia), Lernavan (Marat Sargsyan - lithuania), Jama (Jiri Stejskal - Estonia).

International short film festival 2Annas 2009 has finished
On May 30 the winners of International young talent short film festival 2Annas 2009 were awarded at official ceremony held in K.Suns cinema. The movies were judged by highly competent jury: Dita Rietuma - movie critic, Andrejs Apsitis - director and camera man, Kristofer Heil - explorer of interactive cinema, Uldis Dimisevskis - deputy director of National Film Centre of Latvia.

On May 31, the international young filmmakers short film festival 2Annas concluded with the awarding ceremony. This year again Hannu Pro was the general sponsor of the festival.
The Grand Prize of the festival - Golden Anna statuette and EUR 2000 from Hannu Pro was awarded to film Reality Show directed by Federico Schmucler (Mexico)
The First Prize of Baltic film competition and EUR 1000 from Hannu Pro was awarded to film Sarkanais Plekis /Red Spot/ directed by Ugis Olte (Latvia)
The winners of Zala Anna /Green Anna/ children (under the age of 18) short film competition - Kisibambasi un Musikatels directed by Kristine Imsa (Latvia), I'm Seventeen directed by Romas Zabarauskas (Lithuania) and The Chair directed by Elena Sinkeviciute (Lithuania) received Edius NEO and Edius NEO XL video editing systems.

Hannu Pro sponsors ITF Open tennis tournament (updated)
Continuing its support of Latvian tennis clubs, Hannu Pro will assist the organizers of the forthcoming 2008 ENRI Open tournament. As part of the ITF (International Tennis Federation) Junior Circuit, the ENRI Open will take place in Riga from 2 to 9 March. It has already generated great international interest with more than 120 young players from European countries, including Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, UK, Russia, Israel, Byelorussia, Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Finland, Ireland, Italy registered to compete. Twenty-two girls and 22 boys will compete for the main prize which has been donated by Hannu Pro. There are good prospects for winners of the ENRI Open to start a professional tennis career and take part in prestigious ATP (The Association of Tennis Professionals) tournaments.

In November Hannu Pro sponsored the Latvian Central Tennis Club tournament. During three days sixteen girls and sixteen boys form several Latvian tennis clubs competed for the main prizes in this U-12 tournament. Hannu Pro, within its culture support programme, continues to sponsor creative developments in Latvia. This year, the Latvian National film festival Lielais Kristaps, held in Riga form 28.09 till 07.10, was supported as well. The festival celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. 100 Latvian made movies, documentaries and animation films, produced in last two years were registered for the festival and the jury chose 23 of them for nomination in eight different categories. The second Levira conference successfully concluded
The 2nd Digital Broadcasting conference, organized by the Estonian state broadcasting company Levira and sponsored by Hannu Pro and Thomson Grass Valley, spanned August 23-24. It brought together more than 250 delegates from more than 30 countries. At the beginning of the conference all participants were invited to a Hannu Pro reception and dinner in Kadriorgas Palace. During the conference there was an outdoor exhibition, where industry leaders including Thomson Grass Valley showed their broadcasting solutions for DVBT, Mobile TV / DVBH and IPTV.

Hannu Pro continues to support creative activities
An international young-talent short-film festival 2ANNAS will take place in Riga from 16 through 25 May. Hannu Pro is the proud general sponsor of this year's festival. The main aim of the festival is to promote new worldwide and European non-commercial film production in Latvia and encourage the development of Baltic motion picture art. To achieve the latter, the festival this year will offer a separate Baltic short film production programme. 2ANNAS 2007 will bring together participants from the Baltic region and many other European countries. The main festival screens will be in cinemas K.Suns and Riga, but special night screenings will be held at the Riga Zoo. Other festival activities will take place in the Vermans Garden and in the Latvian Photo Museum as well. An international jury will award prizes, donated by Hannu Pro and Relaks Tour, to three Baltic films, while one film will receive a special prize awarded by MTV Baltic.

On December 1, 2006, in its contribution to Latvian culture, professional multimedia equipment distribution and system integration company Hannu Pro signed a sponsorship agreement with the Latvian professional musicians association - The Latvian Composers' Union. By signing this general sponsorship agreement Hannu Pro has undertaken provision of financial support during 2007 for the Latvian Composers' Union, which brings together numerous prominent Latvian composers.
